1. | From the welcome screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. |
2. | Tap your desired language. |
3. | Tap your country/region. |
4. | From this screen, you can set up your device using Quick Start. To do this, bring another device running iOS 11 or later nearby to sign in automatically. If you need help with this, please follow the Quick Start guide option at the beginning. Otherwise, if you'd like to skip this and set up your device manually, tap Set Up Without Another Device. |
5. | From this screen, you're able to connect your device to nearby Wi-Fi networks. Tap the network you'd like to connect to. |
6. | Enter the network password, then tap Join. |
7. | Read the data and privacy statement from Apple, then tap Continue. |
8. | On this screen, you can choose to set up Face ID on your device. Face ID uses your face as a security measure in place of a passcode or Apple ID password when making purchases or unlocking your device. Tap Continue and follow the on-screen instructions to register your face. Otherwise, tap Set Up Later. |
9. | On this screen, you can choose to set up a passcode. A passcode will be used when unlocking your phone or making purchases and is also required as a backup for Face ID. You can choose between creating a six-digit, four-digit, custom numeric, or custom alphanumeric code. Enter and re-enter your desired code, then jump to step 12. To skip this step, tap Passcode Options. |
10. | Tap Don't Use Passcode. |
11. | Tap Don't Use Passcode again. |
12. | Here, you have the option to restore data and content from a previous device and backup. If you're setting up your device from scratch, tap Don't Transfer Apps & Data. Otherwise, if you want to transfer apps and data, follow the transfer data options at the beginning. |
13. | To get the most out of your device, you should sign into your device using an Apple ID. This enables you to use iCloud functions and services such as Find My iPhone. Enter your Apple ID username and password, then tap Continue. |
14. | Read through the terms and conditions, then tap Agree. |
15. | Tap Continue. |
16. | On this screen, you'll be given the option to set up Siri. Siri is a virtual assistant that helps you find information and get things done by asking. If you'd like to set this up, tap Continue and follow the on-screen instructions to register your voice. For now, tap Set Up Later in Settings. |
17. | On this screen, you'll be given the option to share iPhone Analytics with Apple. Tap your desired preference. |
18. | On this screen, you'll be given the option to share data with app developers. Tap your desired preference. |
19. | Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to complete the initial startup. |
